PCI Energy Solutions, a leading provider of energy software solutions, is pleased to announce that Intermountain Power Agency (IPA) has successfully expanded its use of PCI Enterprise Software Platform to support future hydrogen mixing for a new combined-cycle plant that uses an underground cavern to store hydrogen. This initiative represents a key step in IPA’s hydrogen strategy and reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
By leveraging PCI’s platform, IPA is now better equipped to manage the complexities of hydrogen storage and consumption to lower carbon emissions. This partnership highlights support for hydrogen as part of PCI’s customer-driven technology roadmap to assist clients as they transition toward a carbon-free future.
“Implementing PCI’s Platform has given us the tools we need to manage both natural gas and hydrogen that will be consumed at the Intermountain Power Plant. IPA’s combined-cycle units can use a fuel blend of both natural gas and hydrogen,” said Kyle Tran, IPA’s Project Manager. “This solution is helping us to stay on the forefront of energy innovation and maintain our focus on delivering reliable, carbon-free, and sustainable power to our participants.”
“We are proud to support IPA in this strategic transition to hydrogen,” said Khai Le, Senior Vice President at PCI Energy Solutions. “Our platform’s ability to seamlessly track and manage hydrogen and gas usage demonstrates our commitment to innovation and to helping clients navigate the complexities of the energy transition.”
With this implementation, IPA enhances its capacity to meet evolving market demands and supports their ongoing efforts to lead in hydrogen energy storage. PCI’s cloud-based platform, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), further allows for efficient and secure management of energy resources, including trading, settlements, and risk management.
